Rosemont, Ill. – August 6, 2010
U.S. Foodservice continues to promote food safety by participating in this year’s American Bar Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif., Aug. 5-10. Jorge Hernandez, senior vice president of food safety and quality assurance, U.S. Foodservice, is presenting on the changing food safety standards, regulations, customer concerns, and how businesses can address these risks.
“From U.S. Foodservice’s perspective, food safety is about being a responsible and trustworthy partner to our customers and suppliers,” said Hernandez. “And we do that by taking a comprehensive look at our products, from farm to fork, to identify and eliminate or minimize to the greatest extent possible the food safety risk along the way.”
U.S. Foodservice, one of the country’s largest food distributors, maintains an industry-leading food safety culture to meet the growing demands of regulatory agencies and consumers.
“Food safety is not something we do because we have to, it is a part of who we are and why we are successful,” explains Hernandez. “Our suppliers and our customers recognize us as having one of the strongest food safety policies and programs in the country. We’re proud of our high standards and our customers trust us because of them.”
The panel presentation includes a discussion of a number of best practices that U.S. Foodservice utilizes to ensure the safety of its products. Hernandez will also share insights on likely future regulations that will affect all businesses in the food supply and production industries.
